The aim of music teaching is to give children a love of music of many kinds. They are helped to develop their ability and their critical faculties by listening and responding to music from a variety of times and cultures. They are given opportunities to sing and perform in various settings on a range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments, sometimes using simple methods of recording to enable repeated performances, the emphasis being on enjoyment and involvement.

Musical tuition is available to children from Year 3 onwards. Children can learn the violin, cello, drums and guitar during school time. Parents wishing their children to learn an instrument should contact the academy office.
