
The School Day
Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery)
The FS1 sessions are:
- 8.45 am– 11.45 am (total of 15 hours a week)
- 12.30pm – 3.30 pm (total of 15 hours a week)
Woodnewton has a nursery for children aged three plus and is sited in the main building. It is an integral part of our establishment. Parents have the opportunity to buy wrap around care: 8.00 to 8.45 and 3.30 to 6.00 daily. For further details please enquire in FS1 or at the Academy Office.
Foundation Stage 2 (Reception), Year 1 and Year 2
The Academy day is: 8.55 am – 12.00 pm and 1.15 pm – 3.15 pm (total of 37 hours a week)
In Foundation Stage 2, Years 1 and 2 we welcome parents / carers who wish to bring their children into the classroom, as we feel that it is important that your child has a relaxed start to the day.
In Foundation Stage 2, Years 1 and 2 the Academy day ends at 3.15 pm and we ask that your child is collected by a responsible adult. In the event of an emergency no child will be released unsupervised.
Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
The day is: 8.55 am – 3.20 pm (total of 32.55 hours a week)
In Years 3 and 4 a lunchtime of one hour is provided between 12.45 am and 1.45 pm. In Years 5 and 6 a lunchtime of one hour is provided between 11.45 am and 12.45 pm. This is to ensure a less crowded and safer midday break.
In Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 we ask that children arrive no earlier than 8.45 am when the gates will be opened. Children then make their way directly to their classrooms ready to begin the day at 8.55 am. Parents are welcome to wait and collect their children from the playground or covered seating area at 3.20 pm.
All children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 also have a 15 minute break during the day.
Your child will need a healthy, balanced packed lunch. Please do not include fizzy drinks, glass bottles, chocolate or sweets. Your child will be supervised in the classroom at lunchtime.
