Our Resourced Unit (RU) is a classic nurture group and caters for up to 10 children from the age of 4 to 8.

It is a class for children who require additional support with social, emotional and behavioural needs. (A child selected for the nurture group will not hold a Statement of Special Educational Need but could be moving towards it without nurture group provision).

Our specially trained staff complete assessments, observations and profiling to identify children suitable for such provision. Any recommendation for inclusion is carried out with full parental consultation.

All staff members and schools considering access to Woodnewton Nurture Group, must make a request to the Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Primary Panel. Children receiving nurture group provision are based with a mainstream class at certain times and are very much part of our academy.

Schools must demonstrate a commitment to engagement with the nurture process and understand that the pupil remains the responsibility of the referring school.
